    Objectives and responsibilities of the position

    As Head of Project, you are responsible for coordinating Welthungerhilfe's projects in accordance with the framework specified as regards content, time schedules and finance. A key component of project activities is the improvement of food security in Burkina Faso and the gradual adaptation of agricultural production to the effects of climate change.

    Your most important duties are as follows:

    • Represent Welthungerhilfe and coordinate the project concept and planned project activities with local decision-makers and other aid agencies and development organisations operating in the project area
    • Planning and conceptual further development of project activities, and preparation of planning documents for follow-up phases to project
    • Conceptualisation and introduction of instruments for raising awareness in the area of adaptation to climate change

    • Regular reporting to the Regional Office and head office; warrant the required flow of information and transparency of project work

    • Appoint, manage, and provide guidance to local experts

    Your qualifications will include:

    • A university of polytechnic degree, ideally in the field of Natural Resource Management (NRM), tropical agriculture or disaster risk reduction, or comparable technical training that is appropriate to the post, as well as several years of professional experience.
    • At least five years of project and management experience in carrying out co-financed projects of international (aid) agencies, preferably in the region
    • Coordination and organisational skills - even under a high workload
    • Relevant experience in cooperating with local (partner) organisations
    • Experience in working with DFID and/or EU-financed programmes
    • Very good knowledge of and experience with the application of participatory planning and advisory methods
    • Good knowledge of GIS would be an asset
